    The Facilities department has scheduled an electrical maintenace at 47 Claremont Avenue. The work will take place on Tuesday May 26th, 2009, approximately from 9am to 10am.

    CUIT has a switch at this location. To avoid disruption of power to that switch during the electrical work, we will move the switch to temporary outlets (provided by Facilities) before the work begins, and move it back when the work ends. We expect this work to not affect network connecitivity of users.

    The switch at 47 Claremont Avenue provides network connectivity to users at the following locations:

    448 Riverside Drive
    450 Riverside Drive
    452 Riverside Drive
    454 Riverside Drive
    456 Riverside Drive

    A backup T1 circuit at 33 W 60 St. started taking errors this morning at approx. 11:15am. This circuit has been called out to Verizon for further testing. Because this is a backup circuit, no interuption in network connectivity should be experienced while Verizon tests.

    The NOC has been receiving tickets from users at Nevis Labs, reporting a network outage. Upon investigation, it was determined that the CUIT network equipment at this location is functioning properly. However, we believe there may be a problem on the Local Area Network. Because CUIT does not administer Nevis' LAN, users should be referred to their local IT staff to further investigate this outage.

    Update: The annual test of the emergency generator that  protects the Morningside Campus Voice System has been completed without incident.

     

     On Friday May 22, 2009 between 8am and 11am Facilities will be conducting their annual test of the emergency generator that protects the Morningside Campus Voice System against a power failure. There is no anticipated downtime. This test should be completely transparent to all voice users.
