    CUIT engineers continue to work on a problem that has been delaying mail delivery since this morning. Some of the delayed mail has been delivered already and more is in progress.

    A software misconfiguration on some of the Cyrus mail servers caused a mail delivery outage this morning starting at about 9:30AM. The misconfiguration affected 7 out of the 16 mail servers. Mail for about 40,000 customers was queued but was not delivered. No mail has been lost but some messages will be received out of order.

    On Monday, December 22nd, from 5am to 7am CUIT will be working on improving Network connectivity by adding an additional Internet Service Provider to our network. This upgrade will improve external network (internet) performance and provide additional redundancy. During this time, customers may experience intermittent issues connecting to the network services outside Columbia's network ( e.g. Google, CNN, Gmail ).

    CUIT apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, but this action is necessary to ensure a more reliable service.  If clients continue to experience issues after the service-interruption hours, please contact the CUIT Helpdesk at:

    Today, December 19, 2008, from 5pm to 7pm, CUIT will perform maintenance on the UPS servicing the phone system at CRF (111 East 59th St).  Phone service will be unavailable during this time.

    On Wednesday December 24th, 2008, the CUIT Helpdesk (4-1919) will close at 5pm and the CUIT Client Service Center at 102 Philosophy will close at 3pm.  The Helpdesk will re-open 3pm Sunday, December 28th, and the Client Service Center will re-open 10am Monday, December 29th.

    On Wednesday December 31st, 2008, the CUIT Helpdesk will close at 5pm and the CUIT Client Service Center will close at 3pm.   They will re-open 3pm Sunday, January 4th, and 10am Monday, January 5th, respectively.

    On Friday, December 19, 2008 from 9:00am to 9:30am, CUIT will replace the UPS servicing 401 West 118th St.  During this time, users in the building will experience a network outage.
