    The affected Cyrus email server was temporarily taken out of service at 2:30PM. During this time affected customers will not be able to access their mailboxes via Cubmail nor via email clients such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

    We expect the server to be brought back into service within one hour.

    We apologize for this inconvenience and regret the impact of this outage for our affected customers.

    The Cyrus email server affected by the outage was temporarily taken out of service today at 2:30PM.

    The server was brought back online at 4:10PM. Customers are now be able to access their mailboxes via Cubmail or email clients such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

    We apologize for this inconvenience and regret the impact of this outage for our affected customers.

    As previously announced, CourseWorks and the Sakai Pilot will be UNAVAILABLE from 6 am to 12 midnight, Tuesday, December 30, 2008.

    During this time, we will be performing critical database, systems, and application maintenance on all CourseWorks and Sakai Pilot servers. This work is part of our ongoing effort to provide a stable and robust environment for these vital services for the entire Columbia community. This date was chosen to minimize the impact of this long outage.

    On January 13th, from 7pm to 8pm EST, one of the Cyrus email backend servers must be powered down to replace important hardware.   During this time, approximately 2,700 (out of 80,000) Cyrus email accounts will be unavailable.   Affected clients may experience a login failure, an empty inbox, or an inbox with only new messages.   No mail is expected to be lost.  We apologize for this outage, but this procedure is critical to the continued maintenance of the server and its email accounts.
