Resolved: As of 9:30 we have seen successful logins and have received no more reports of failures.
Update 3: As of 9:09 Google says "We are continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 4/17/13 9:55 AM detailing when we expect to resolve the problem.
This issue is affecting less than 0.007% of the Google Mail user base. The affected users are unable to access Google Mail."
Apparently Columbia users who are not yet logged in are in the 0.007%.
Update 2: Google's status page now states that Mail has a "service disruption" (which is less than a full outage). Users may see problems logging in to their consumer Gmail (non-LionMail) as well. They are investigating.
Update: Google has posted an alert about an outage on the administrator's control panel (which we use to administer LionMail). This is probably related to the login outage.
Beginning some time this morning, we have been receiving reports of errors logging into LionMail. Users who are already logged in can still access their email. The error message from Google is "Google Apps - Server Error". CUIT administrators have been notified and are currently working to resolve the issue.
CUIT expects to have a resolution or an update by 10am. We apologize for this service interruption.
