    We will replace a faulty UPS in our equipment closet on the second floor of Lenfest Hall tomorrow, 9/12/08, from 9:30 – 10:00 am. During this maintenance, users on the second floor will lose network connectivity.
  • Telephony - NetPhone
    09/10/2008 - 06:00pm to 09/10/2008 - 07:00pm

    CUIT NetPhone service will be updated Wednesday, September 10th 2008, at 6:00 PM. The update is being applied to the presence server which provides Bridged Line Appearance (BLA) functionality for the NetPhone service. This function indicates when a shared line is in use on another phone.

    This change should have no impact on regular NetPhone service.

    However, NetPhone users configured for BLA might notice that their indicator light does not appear.

    The indicator light should re-appear within an hour of the change.

    This maintenance work did not take place today.  It will be rescheduled in the near future.

    Tuesday, between 7 and 8pm, we will be replacing a failing hard drive on one of the pinex servers.  Users on the affected server will have to log back in and will be redirected to the other pinex server. We estimate approximately 50 users will be affected.

    This work was completed successfully at 7:20pm.

    Voice Tie Line Service between Nevis Labs and Columbia University is currently down.  We're temporarily routing these tie line calls to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network).

     Update 9/5/2008 at 1:30pm:

    Tie Line service was restored at 1:20pm.

    09/05/2008 - 09:00am to 09/08/2008 - 08:00am

    Due to the large number of students accessing the university's calendaring system, Sundial (http://calendar.columbia.edu/sundial), for the ServiceNation event on Sept 11 featuring Senators Barak Obama and John McCain there is a bit of a slowdown which has at times been resulting in a request timeout. Configuration changes are underway to allow more connections to the event's registration.

    Users are urged to try registering for the event later. Due to demand, registration has been extended until 8:00am Monday (9/8).  As connections to Sundial close, a chance will open for them to register. Order of registration will not have any effect on the user's chances of winning the lottery that will ultimately choose the students who may attend. Registration for the event is at https://calendar.columbia.edu/sundial/webapi/register.php?eventID=25241.
