    Technicians are replacing a bad UPS serving the switch in 400w 119. There will be no network connectivity during the replacement.

    Technicians will be replacing equipment in 401 W 118 St today betweem 1:30pm and 2:00pm. Users in the building will lose network connectivity during this time.

  • Cellular - Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES)

    Beginning around 4pm today an intermittent issue prohibiting internet browsing from some BlackBerry devices connected to the CUIT BlackBerry Enterprise Server.  We are actively working with Research in Motion/BlackBerry to resolve the problem.  In the meantime, if there is an alternate Browser icon on your BlackBerry device, please use that to view Internet content. 

    We apologize for this service interruption, and will provide an update as soon as one is available. 

    UPDATE 10/17/08:  This issue has been resolved.  Please contact the CUIT Helpdesk if you are still experiencing intermittent browser failures.  Thanks for your cooperation.

    Facilities informed us that there will be an emergency electrical
    shutdown for the entire Nevis Laboratories this Sunday 10/12/2008 at
    8am. Power will be restored by 4pm.

    This will impact CUIT-provided network connectivity at Nevis and Lamont as follows:

    NEVIS:

    Nevis will lose all CUIT-provided network connectivity during the power outage.

    LAMONT:

    When the shutdown occurs at 8am, the traffic between Lamont and the
    Commodity Internet will re-route from the Qwest connection at Nevis to
    the Level 3 connection at Morningside. Lamont will see a disruption of
    that traffic for up to 5 minutes.

    When power is restored, the traffic between Lamont and the Commodity
    Internet will re-route back to the Qwest connection at Nevis. Lamont
    will again see a disruption of that traffic for up to 5 minutes.

    Traffic between Lamont and Morningside/Internet2 should not be affected.
