    Tie line service was restored at 3:00PM.

    The outage was caused by defective underground pairs.

    Voice Tie Line Service between Nevis Labs and Columbia University is currently down. We’re temporarily routing these tie line calls to the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). 

    Technicians are investigating.

    Certain pages on www.columbia.edu are currently unavailable.   From the main Columbia homepage, the following links or effects are not working:

    Main University web pag's image gallery

    Email and Computing [left column]

    Neighbors link [right column]

    website search box

    Administrators are working to resolve these issues.  They look similar to the issue that occurred last night (10:15pm-1am) during a scheduled file server maintenance, and may be related.

    UPDATE: Affected webpages are working now, as of 5:27pm EST.   We apologize for this inconvenience, and appreciate your patience.

    There is currently an outage affecting a number of Columbia email users.   This was a planned outage but is having unanticipated effects.  Users are experiencing the symptom of seeing an empty inbox, or a failure to login.   Service is expected to be restored by 6:15pm.   

     

    UPDATE:  Service was restored by 5:58pm.   Please restart your email client or web browser to resolve any residual issues.  No mail was lost during this outage, though it's possible a small number of people may see some email delivered out of order.    If you are still experiencing issues after restarting the client or browser, please contact the CUIT Helpdesk at 212-854-1919.

    CUIT will be perfoming maintenance on the network equipment that services 526 West 113th Street. During the scheduled interval, there will be a short (<5 minutes) interruption in network connectivity.

    CUIT apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, but this action is necessary to ensure a more reliable service.  If clients continue to experience issues after the service-interruption hours, please contact the CUIT Helpdesk at:

    CUIT will be performing maintenance on the network equipment that serves Dodge Hall 6th, 7th, and 8th floors. There will be no loss of network connectivity for ethernet users; however, wireless users will experience a momentary loss of network connectivy while our equipment is switched to a new power source.
