Currently, 111 E. 59th Street (CRF) voice service is being routed via the backup T1 circuit.

The primary T1 circuit is down. Paetec/Verizon are investigating.

  • CUNIX Web Servers
    07/02/2009 - 03:24pm to 07/06/2009 - 11:19am

We continue to see intermittent non-responsiveness or failover to the backup provider and are attempting various methods of handling or eliminating the increased traffic.  Users will see one of two error states:

    - www.columbia.edu is not responding
    - www.columbia.edurewrites to a www-fail.columbia.edu URL which indicates that the requested page is not available (on the backup provider).

In some cases, users will be redirected to the backup provider successfully and not notice any problems.  This is because the backup provider has the most visible or most popular pages from www.columbia.edu , but does not have the full site.

The System Administrators continue to work on resolving this problem.

  • Telephony - Rolm Phone Support
    07/02/2009 - 12:00pm to 07/03/2009 - 12:52am

CUIT is performing necessary maintenance on this service.   This scheduled maintenance is expected to be completed on-time.

During the scheduled time of this Service Alert, a brief disruption in ROLM phone service will occur as a switchover between PBX processors is initiated in each node of the PBX. The outage will last approximately 1 second per node (9 nodes total). Any calls in the node during this switchover will be dropped.

CUIT apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, but this action is necessary to ensure a more reliable service.  If clients continue to experience issues after the service-interruption hours, please contact the CUIT Helpdesk at:
