    In order to upgrade network equipment at Nevis Labs, maintenance has been schedule for Tuesday 3/29 from 3-5 p.m.  The work may result in a loss of internet connectivity for the site.

    Since yesterday afternoon, some Columbia (Cyrus) email users have experienced unusual slowness in opening and receiving their emails.  THis may be experienced as a slow (or no) response after typing in their UNI and password to login to Cubmail.  Or you may get in normally but see what appears to be an empty inbox. Both problems are caused by CubMail not getting a timely response back from the mail system.   An empty-looking inbox does NOT mean messages are missing or deleted, just that the list was not served up to the browser client before it timed out.

    The issue is being investigated as quickly as possible, but there is no ETR at this time.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

    In an unrelated event, early this morning, between 5am and 8:25am, some Columbia email users were unable to access their email.  The experience might have been similar, but the cause (hardware-related) was different and unrelated.  This issue was resolved at 8:25am 3/30.

    CUIT is performing necessary maintenance on this service.   This scheduled maintenance is expected to be completed on-time.

    During the scheduled time of this Service Alert, clients may not be able to access their phonemail accounts and receive phonemail messages.

    The following ONLY applies to the CUMC campus and CUMC-IT services, not CUIT services and the Morningside campus.  It is provided here for purely informational purposes, in the event Morningside campus customers also access and use CUMC online resources.

    THere is an emergency electrical issue in the CUMC Hammer Building, affecting the CUMC-IT server room.  CUMC Facilities shut down power to their server room at 5pm today in order to perform emergency maintenance.

    The following services are known to be affected:

    CUMC file servers, CROWN, CUMC Exchange email,CUMC-hosted Blackberry Enterprise services, CUMC web pages, the CentralAdmin domain as well as other departmental CentralExchange domains.   

    Other systems are expected to be affected during the course of repairs.  There is no estimated time for the completion of repairs, but they are working on the issue as quickly as possible.   Please direct all inquiries to the CUMC ITS Service Desk at or 212-305-HELP.

    Update: This maintenance was completed successfully.

    CUIT is performing Emergency maintenance on the Agile ACD server in an attempt to resolve an issue related to clients receiving reports. This work will require a restart of the server and supporting equipment. During this time Agile ACD calls will be routed over backup PBX connections. This scheduled update is expected to be completed on time. No service interruption is anticipated.
