    At 1:56pm today, our Mudd distribution router unexpectedly rebooted, bringing down wired and wireless connectivity in Mudd and its surrounding buildings. The router came back up at around 2:05pm and connectivity should now be restored.

    We are investigating this unexpected reboot.

    UPDATE: This change was completed successfully by 7:05 AM.

    All self-referential MX records will be removed from CUIT's DNS database.

    According to the SMTP specification, there is no need to publish explicit self-referential MX records.  This change will reduce the size of our DNS database by more than 15%, significantly improving the performance of our DNS system.

    Please note this change will NOT affect any MX records that are not self-referential (e.g., columbia.edu, gsb.columbia.edu, tc.columbia.edu).

    This work was completed at 7:20 a.m.

     

    In order to perform maintenance, we will be rebooting one of the network switches that services the 11th and 12th floors of Mudd.  Only customers connected to the affected switch will experience an outage.
