UPDATE 12/16/14 11:05 AM: Service has been restored
Begining on Tuesday, December 16 at 10:30 AM , wireless connectivity became unavailable in 21 Claremont due to a building-wide power outage. CUIT administrators have been notified and are currently working to resolve the issue. We apologize for this service interruption.
On Tuesday, December 16, from 2:00-7:00 AM, CUIT is performing necessary electrical maintenance on the fifth floor of Studebaker. This scheduled maintenance is expected to be completed on time and no network downtime is anticipated.
For questions about this event, please contact the CUIT Helpdesk at email@example.com, or call 212-854-1919.
Incoming mail was disrupted 09:15-09:30 when a mailing company called icpbounce.com sent us 16,000 separate messages from 75 servers in the course of 10 minutes. During the disruption many outside mail systems would have had to queue mail for re-try. By now that mail will have been delivered. Further mail from icpbounce.com will be given a temporary fail for the time being.
This also prevented some scanners on campus from sending to mx.columbia.edu during that same time.
Other news about the incoming mail gateway. We have added a tenth old server to the existing pool to increase capacity. Simultaneously we are progressing well on a fast-track project to move the entire pool to newer hardware.
