Update 10:45am. Delays have all been cleared except the temporary AOL block that AOL will take care of.
Update 10:10am. We have completed clearing out the spam. AOL is temporarily refusing mail from columbia.edu because some of the spam got through to aol.com addresses. The AOL block should clear later today.
Outgoing mail has been delayed since 08:40 because of abuse of a stolen email account. The unknown person using the account attempted to send a large amount of spam that has clogged up our mail queues. Cleanup has been in progress for over 1 hour.
Beginning at 10pm this evening, Cogent our primary Internet provider, is performing necessary maintenance on their equipment. During the maintenance window, Internet traffic will automatically be routed over our backup Internet connection.
No loss of network connectivity is expected, however users may experience very brief periods of slowness during failover to the backup connection.
CUIT apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause, but this action is necessary to ensure a more reliable service. If clients continue to experience issues after the service-interruption hours, please contact the CUIT Helpdesk at:
